According to WDTV, West Virginia State Police are seeking the public’s help after a body was found along I-79 near the Monongalia/Marion county line last week.
The body was found Wednesday, January 28th just south of the Monongalia County line in Marion County near mile marker 140 at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Authorities believe a vehicle associated with the deceased individual may have briefly pulled off onto the right shoulder of the southbound lanes during the afternoon or evening hours of Tuesday, January 27th.
Police are asking anyone who may have been traveling southbound on I-79 during that time and who may have observed anything unusual or a vehicle alongside the road to contact WVSP at 304-367-2850.
Also, anyone who may have dash-camera footage that would show a vehicle in that area is asked to review their video and contact WVSP.
All tips and information will be reviewed as part of the active investigation, police say.
