Troy Zorick and Victoria Singzon Named as January 2026 Bridgeport High School Students of the Month

Bridgeport High School Principal Renee' Mathews has announced that Troy Zorick and Victoria Singzon are the January 2026 Students of the Month. Below is a profile of each student.
Troy Zorick is a senior at Bridgeport High School. He is the son of Rich and Robin Zorick and brother of Austen Zorick of Bridgeport. Troy is an accomplished student athlete, known for showing up every day with determination, work ethic, and natural leadership. He reflects

Academically, Troy takes pride in his work. He has completed some of BHS’s most challenging courses, including AP Language and Composition, AP Statistics, and a dual-credit class. He is also a BHS Aerospace completer and has earned academic lamps and letters each year for his consistent excellence.
Outside the classroom, Troy is a leader of both the Cross Country and Track distance programs. This fall, he helped guide his team to a state runner-up finish at the WVSSAC State XC Championship. Troy is a two-time First Team All-State performer, a Big 10 Conference XC champion, a three-time Harrison County champion, and a two-time XC Athlete of the Year.
One of Troy’s proudest achievements came when he became the second athlete in BHS history to break the 16-minute barrier in the 5K at the Brooks XC South Regional Championship in Charlotte, NC. He ran a 15:58, which is the fastest off-season time ever recorded by a BHS cross country athlete. This breakthrough followed 18 months of disciplined recovery and training after a significant hip injury.
In Track, Troy is a two-time national qualifier, placing 12th in the Freshman Mile at New Balance Outdoor Nationals and competing in the Emerging Elite two-mile at Nike Indoor Nationals. He has also earned multiple all-conference, all-county, and all-state honors.
Beyond athletics, Troy is involved in several school programs, including Key Club, the Team American Rocketry Challenge, and Drug Free Club. He has volunteered at the Humane Society of Harrison County and plans to continue these efforts in the future. Troy is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He is very honored to have been chosen for student of the month. Troy would like to thank his teachers, coaches, family, and friends who have supported him.
Following graduation, Troy plans to pursue a career in healthcare while continuing his athletic career in Cross Country and Track.
Victoria Alexandra Singzon is the daughter of Drs. Victorico and Lea Angela Singzon. She is an exceptional rising senior from Bridgeport High School and has consistently maintained a GPA of above a 4.0 throughout her time in high school, which demonstrates her 
commitment to academic excellence. She has consistently challenged herself academically and will have completed a total of seven AP classes at the end of her senior year. Aside from AP courses, she is also taking dual credit college courses as well. She has maintained her place in the honor roll every semester and has been a recipient of academic lamps throughout her high school career. She has been recognized by the College Board as an AP Scholar with Distinction, which is awarded to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken. She also received the College Board National Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award and College Board National School Recognition Award based on her exceptional performance on her PSAT/NMSQT, AP exams, and scholastic grades. Aside from this, she has been inducted into the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Furthermore, she has earned the West Virginia Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish.

Her commitment to excellence is evident in and out of the classroom. She has been a consistent member of Student Council since her middle school years. For her senior year, she considers it an honor and privilege to serve as student body president. She is a dedicated, hard-working, and efficient leader who advocates for her peers. Victoria was also elected to serve as the vice president of Girl Up Club, which empowers girls in her high school. Aside from her academic pursuits, she has found the time to be an active member of Key Club, Girl Up, and Spanish Club.
She also co-organized a fundraising effort through a garage sale, which benefited the American Red Cross Central Appalachian Region.
Because of her exceptional academic and leadership performance, she was selected as one of two students to represent Harrison County to attend West Virginia Governor’s Honors Academy last summer. This is a highly competitive, fully funded, residential academic program for rising seniors held at West Virginia University. This focused on the challenges and opportunities their generation faces. She was chosen to be one of twenty participants in the highly selective WVU Health Careers Academy and one of forty participants in the Perry Initiative Outreach Program held at UPMC. These enrichment and exposure programs all the more strengthened her desire to pursue medicine.
Her compassion extends beyond the school environment. She enjoyed her time as a volunteer working with the UHC Auxiliary at United Hospital Center. She has served 250 volunteer hours helping patients, working the front desk, bringing patients newspapers and cards, and aiding nurses. At this early age, her desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others is already apparent. Her future plans are deeply rooted in following her parents’ footsteps towards pursuing a career in medicine.
