Woman who Spent Years in Classroom Working with Special Education Students, Madge Hennen, Passes

Madge Louise McKinney Hennen, 90 of Jane Lew, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. She was born in Rosemont, WV on February 7, 1935, a daughter of the late Goff and Nellie Tierny McKinney.
 
She was married to George Clyde “Bud” Hennen, who preceded her in death in 1977.
 
Surviving are three daughters, Vickie Short of Clarksburg, Linda Retton and her husband Michael of Columbia, MD and Lisa Gaines of Good Hope; eight grandchildren, Kelly Bond, Michael Bond, Trevor Retton and wife Jenna, Lauren Retton and husband Joshua Holbrook, Kari Short, Christopher Harris, Amber Gaines and companion Zn Keisling, and Zachary Gaines; five great grandchildren; two siblings, Thomas “Tom” McKinney and his wife Donice of Flemington and Annabelle Hostler of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.
 
She was also preceded in death by five siblings, Mary DeCampli, Debra Welch, Robert McKinney, Rev. John McKinney and Paul McKinney; and one son-in-law, Keith Gaines.
 
Mrs. Hennen was a graduate of Flemington High School and was a retired special education teachers aid for the Harrison County Board of Education and West Milford Elementary School. She was a member of the Horizons Church in Lost Creek, the Good Hope Women’s Club and enjoyed quilting.
 
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Crestview Manor for their kindness and care.
 
Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm where funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Felder officiating. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
