Off the Shelf – December Weekly Library Events

By Angela Spatafore on December 03, 2025 from Off the Shelf

December is here, and so is our new brochure for the winter season. Pick one up to see what we have planned for the next three months. You can register for the library’s events in December now on our website (bplwv.org). We have over 50 events for all ages (from infants to adults) just this month, and many of them occur weekly. Here are just a few ways you can add the library to your weekly schedule. For toddlers, infants, and their caregivers, join us in the Children’s Area every Monday at 11 AM for Juice Box Social.

The library provides complimentary juice boxes, muffins, water, and coffee along with toys to entertain the littles while the adults can connect with other families. This hour-long gathering is a great way to start your week! We also host Makerspace Open Hours every Monday from 2:30-4:30 PM in our Makerspace. Every week we bring out some of our equipment to give you the chance to learn or work on a project. We currently have sewing machines, 3D pens and Perler beads, cutting machines, and 3D printers on rotation. Everyone is welcome although some of our equipment has age limits, and while the library provides some supplies, some supplies are not included such as fabric. Please check our Makerspace webpage for more information: https://www.bplwv.org/makerspace-14789 For the teens, we have Tabletop Adventures every Tuesday from 3:00-5:00 PM in the Event Space. Ready to face dragons and mimics? Join us for 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons at the library! New players are always welcome. You can build your own character or select one from some of the options we have available. All you need to bring is your imagination. Need more for teens?

Mark your calendar for the return of our popular program, Snackchat! Coming back in January 2026, join us on Thursdays at 4:00 PM in the Event Space for an hour of snacks and relaxation. You will get to chat with friends and discuss our latest read aloud. Check out our winter brochure for full details! Adults can look forward to coming to Hooks & Needles every Wednesday from 11:00-1:00 PM in the Event Space. Bring your current craft project and enjoy two hours of vibrant conversation. Any craft is welcome! We have seen everything from knitting to basket weaving to hand quilting to lace making. Whether you’re new to Bridgeport or a long-time resident, you’re bound to meet new people at Hooks & Needles. ...and these are just our weekly events! As a reminder, our website and brochure have the full details on all of the exciting events happening at the Bridgeport Public Library. We hope to see you soon!
