By Sharon Saye on October 21, 2020 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

A certain holiday is fast approaching that only the super-organized want to think about in the middle of October.  This year giving gifts and entertaining is going to be even more difficult because of COVID-19, so, let me get you started considering what you might want to cook this year.

Taste of Home produces an annual volume titled “Holiday & Celebrations” and the 2020 volume is especially scrumptious from the Vanilla Ring Cake on the cover that can be decorated in so many ways for various holidays to the Muffuletta for Mardi Gras.  This volume contains over 300 plus recipes for a year of holidays from Christmas to Thanksgiving to Easter to Halloween.  They are accompanied by gorgeous photos, fun party ideas, and handy timelines.

The recipes range from Slow-Cooked Cranberry Hot Wings to Golden Santa Bread to Peanut Butter Snowballs to Traditional Hot Cross Buns.  There is even a BB-8 Cake for all the Star Wars fans.

This is the sort of cookbook that uses a whole pad of post-it notes but think of all the inspiration you will find for all the holidays.

Other cookbooks to get you thinking about what to cook are: “Fix-It and Forget-It Christmas Cookbook,” “2020 Christmas with Southern Living,” “The Pioneer Woman Cooks A Year of Holidays,” and “Better Homes and Gardens Celebrate the Seasons.”
