Readers may be looking forward to spring, but winter is lingering on.  So, let’s look at some of the new books scheduled for March that readers can also look forward to.  BookPage is a 30-plus page handout available for free at the library that can keep you up to date with what is available each month.

Their editors highlight some of their favorite books for March.  And that may be a good place to start to plan your month’s reading.  Mallory O’Meara looks at the true story behind cult horror film, “The Creature from the Black Lagoon,” in “The Lady form the Black Lagoon: Hollywood Monsters and the Lost Legacy of Milicent Patrick.”

Historical fiction writer, Kate Quinn, offers a mystery story set in World War II about a trio of characters searching for the infamous, “The Huntress.”  Mystery fans will be very happy with the latest from Elly Griffiths, “Stranger Diaries,” set in a British high school.

“Gingerbread” by Helen Oyeyemi is a fantasy about a young woman born into a life of serfdom who wants to escape with the help of a magical gingerbread.  True Crime lovers will be riveted by Patrick Radden Keefe’s “Say Nothing” about a murder and its link to Northern Ireland’s violent 30-year “troubles.”

“The Catalogue of Shipwrecked Books” by Edward Wilson-Lee is a biography of Christopher Columbus, his son, and their goal to build the world’s largest library.  Lisa See’s “The Island of Sea Women” is a historical novel about two female Korean free divers whose friendship is transformed by culture and war.

“The Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls” by Anissa Gray tells the account of two mothers whose family tragedies carry the story.  Isaac Mizrahi is a well-known fashion designer and celebrity and he recounts his life in “I.M.”

“Daisy Jones & The Six” by best-selling author, Taylor Jenkins Reid recounts the story of a young woman’s pursuit of musical success in the sixties and the dramatic results when she teams up with a band called The Six.

Readers of BookPage can enjoy a feature on Elly Griffiths, sea stories, and columns on lifestyles, romance, science fiction & fantasy, Book Clubs and whodunit for recommendations as well as pages of reviews to the latest books.  It is available at both circulation desks.
