Bridgeport Baseball Goes 7-1 for Week, Beats Multiple Ranked AAAA Foes

By Michael Minnich on April 27, 2026

Seven days, seven wins.

It was a very successful week for the Bridgeport Indians baseball team, which dropped only one of its eight contests.

Bridgeport opened the week with a 16-9 win over Elkins on Monday.

The Tribe scored multiple runs in every inning, finishing with 21 hits.

Luke Rohrig was 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, four runs and two RBIs in the leadoff spot.

Jax McNally had four hits right behind him in the order, scoring three runs and driving in a pair.

Kasen Baun doubled in a three-hit showing with four runs and three RBIs.

Guy Avolio doubled in a three-hit day with three RBIs.

Cole Arnett added three hits and two RBIs.

Brooks Vass got the win with three innings of scoreless relief and also drove in two runs.

Then, it was an impressive 8-1 home victory on Tuesday over a AAAA-ranked Morgantown team.

Aidan Dunn pitched a complete game, allowing an unearned run on five hits.

Owen Sondericker had two hits and four RBIs

Baun tripled and drove in two runs and Avolio contributed a double and two RBIs.

Rohrig was 2-for-3 with three runs and McNally scored twice.

Bridgeport closed out its homestand with a 4-1 win over another AAAA foe, University, on Wednesday.

Dom Fazalare (five innings, one unearned run, four hits, four strikeouts) and Talan Thomas (two hitless innings) combined for the win on the mound.

Avolio doubled and drove in two and Sondericker added two hits and two runs, with Rohrig and Arnett accounting for the other two RBIs.

The Tribe then took to the road for the remainder of the week.

They had no trouble with a rebuilding Fairmont Senior team on Thursday, cruising 17-0 in three innings.

Avolio and Sondericker each doubled, with Avolio finishing with two runs and two RBIs and Sondericker and Dunn with three runs.

McNally allowed one hit and fanned five for the abbreviated win.

Bridgeport then beat a pair of Virginia foes on Friday, edging Riverside, 4-3, and blasting Woodgrove, 13-2, in six innings.

In the first game, Thomas worked 5 2/3 innings with five strikeouts for the win and Vass and Sondericker each pitched 2/3 of a scoreless inning to preserve the victory.

McNally drove in three runs and, along with Baun, Avolio and Arnett, accounted for Bridgeport's hits, all singles.

Blake Butcher was the story in the second game, striking out eight in a complete game for the win.

The heart of the order did the offensive damage; Sondericker scored two runs and drove in a pair and Baun and Avolio both finished with two hits, two runs and three RBIs.

The Tribe then split a Saturday doubleheader with perennial AAAA state contender Jefferson, losing 7-4 and bouncing back 5-3 in the nitecap.

In the loss, Sondericker pitched a complete game, giving up three earned runs on five hits.

McNally doubled in a 2-for-4 showing with a run and Avolio and Arnett both had two hits and an RBI.

In the win, Avolio took a shutout into the seventh before the Cougars scored three unearned runs.

Baun doubled and drove in a run, while Arnett had two hits and an RBI, Sondericker drove in a run and McNally scored twice.

Bridgeport (21-4) has three road games this week: North Marion on Monday, University on Tuesday and Wheeling Park on Thursday.

All are 5 p.m. starts.
