Bridgeport Softball Seeded No. 5 in Class AAA Region II Bracket
By Michael Minnich on May 06, 2026
The Bridgeport Indians' path to South Charleston's Little Creek Park and the Class AAA state softball tournament has been revealed.
The Tribe are the No. 5 seed in Class AAA Region II and will travel to No. 4 Elkins to begin the double-elimination tournament on Monday, May 11.
The winner will face No. 1 Keyser on Tuesday, May 12, while the loser will travel to Tuesday's loser for an elimination game on Wednesday, May 14.
The two remaining teams will play on Thursday, May 15, with the team in the loser's bracket needing to beat the team in the winner's bracket twice.
All games are played at the highest seed entering the tournament, meaning if Bridgeport does make it to states, they'll have to do it completely on the road.
In the other half of Region II, No. 2 Lewis County is the highest seed and has a bye, with No. 3 Robert C. Byrd hosting No. 6 Hampshire in the opener.
The tournament has until May 22 to be completed if weather is a factor.
The state tournament field has expanded from four teams to eight teams in each class.
Like basketball, the top team in each half of the regional draw advances, so two of the six participating teams in this region will play at the state level.
Class A and AA state play on May 27-29, while Class AAA and AAA compete on June 2-4.
