Bridgeport Track & Field Sweeps Team Race Again in 2nd Meet of Season

Two meets in, four first-place team finishes for the Bridgeport Indians track & field squads.
After winning their own Connect-Bridgeport Invitational to open the season, BHS took first place in both the boys and girls team races at the Snowshoe Foundation Invitational at Elkins.
The boys scored 193 points to beat Elkins (162), Philip Barbour (75), Tucker County (64), Braxton County (51), Preston (49), Lewis County (32), Webster County (18), Pocahontas County (10), Tygarts Valley (7) and Petersburg (1).
The girls posted 187.5 points to finish ahead of Elkins (134), Preston (82), Braxton County (64), Petersburg (63), Lewis County (42), Philip Barbour (40), Tucker County (37), Pocahontas County (16.5), Tygarts Valley (7) and Harman (5).
For the girls, relays and field events were golden.
Bridgeport’s 4x100 unit of Taylor Randolph, Ellie Bongiorno, Emma Kniceley-See and Violet Vash broke the tape in a time of 53.08 seconds.
Bongiorno, Randolph, Kennedy Wolfe and Vash won the 4x200 in 1:56.61.
Katie Backus, Carley Lattea, Scarlett Edgell and Wolfe got the job done in the shuttle hurdles in 1:11.66.
Bethsayed Dankiewicz, Isla Tobrey, Mikaela DeMoss and Aria Selario took first the 4x800 in 10:27.28.
Individually, Isabella McCullough claimed the shot put with a top throw of 31’9.75. with Jazzy Brown (27’5.5) fourth.
Tobrey’s pole vault of 8’0 was followed by Edgell and Bongiorno at 6’6.
Haydn Henderson edged Elkins’ Marissa Brenwalt in the long jump, 16’2.5 to 16’2, with Edgell in third at 14’1.
Henderson placed second in the 200 meter dash in a time of 27 seconds, just ahead of Kniceley-See (27.26) in third and Vash (27.41) in fifth.
Henderson also took second in the 400 meter dash in 1:04.40.
Kniceley-See (12.96 seconds) was third and Henderson (13.17) fourth in the 100 meter dash.
DeMoss claimed second in the 3200 meter run in 12:10.45.
Edgell (17.78 seconds), Lattea (18.00) and Backus (18.05) went 3-4-5 in the 100 meter hurdles.
Dankiewicz ran third in the 800 meters in 2:36.12 and Selario claimed third in the 1600 meter run in 5:22.29.
Backus (4’8) and Lattea (4’6) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the high jump.
Tobrey (54.35 seconds) was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles.
For the boys, Will George swept the 100 meter dash (11.16 seconds) and 200 meter dash (22.61 seconds), with Gavin Williams placing third in the 200 (23.22) and in fifth in the 100 (11.52).
Sawyer Culicerto picked up a first in the 110 hurdles in 16.63 seconds, with Braeden Matthis (17.72) and Lawson Salisbury (18.14) third and fourth, respectively.
Kieran Moore (42.45 seconds), Culicerto (43.82) and Aiden Gorby (44.43) were 1-2-3 in the 300 meter hurdles.
In the 4x100 meter relay, Graham Vincent, Williams, JT Ritter and Carson Bastin won in 45.70 seconds.
Gorby, Vincent, Matthis and Culicerto came in first in the shuttle hurdles in 1:01.78.
Bastin, Moore, Vincent and George placed a close second in the 4x200 in 1:35.10, just .09 seconds behind Elkins.
Troy Zorick was runner-up in the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:35.95, with William Northey (4:41.04) fourth.
Jaylen Brown (41’9) was second in the shot put, with Brody Abraham (40’4) and Tytan Martin (39’8.5) in fourth and sixth.
Parker Muncy cleared 9’6 in the pole vault, good for second place, while Tildon Cope was third, also with a best of 9’6.
Zorick (2:05.27) and Northey (2:08.26) placed third and fourth in the 800 meter run.
William Henderson (123’5) came in third in the discus and Brown (117’9) was fifth.
Ritter (55.19 seconds) was fourth in the 400 meter dash.
Northey, Muncy, Andrew Wagner and Fox Means took fourth in the 4x800 relay in 10:03.42.
Williams (5’8) and Vincent (5’8) tied for fifth in the high jump.
Gorby placed fifth in the long jump with a best of 18’3.
Bridgeport will have a busy stretch next week, traveling to Robert C. Byrd on Tuesday for the Harrison County Championships at 4:15 p.m., then competing in the Mountaineer Showcase at WVU’s Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park on Saturday at 10 a.m.
