Bridgeport Track & Field Teams Triumphant at Harry Green Invitational

The Bridgeport Indians boys and girls track & field teams defended their home track successfully on Friday, with both squads finishing first in the Harry Green Invitational at Wayne Jamison Field.
 
The boys scored 166 points to nip regional rival Keyser (162.5) and beat Hurricane (112), St. Marys (108.5), Philip Barbour (55), Robert C. Byrd (36), Buckhannon-Upshur (28.5), Braxton County (11) and Nicholas County (0.5).
 
The girls tallied 171.5 points to finish in front of Hurricane (115), Keyser (73.5), RCB (69.5), Philip Barbour (67), St. Marys (56.5), Braxton County (55), Buckhannon-Upshur (40), Northern Garrett (27) and Notre Dame (8).
 
In the 100 meter dash, Bridgeport had seven of the top eight finishers in Will George (first, 11.39 seconds), Gavin Williams (second, 11.40), JT Ritter (third, 11.68), Aiden Gorby (fifth, 11.86), Graham Vincent (sixth, 12.05), Carson Bastin (seventh, 12.10) and Gabe Martin (eighth, 12.16).
 
Ritter won the 200 meter dash in 23.72 seconds.
 
Kieran Moore (41.44 seconds) and Sawyer Culicerto (42.62) were first and second in the 300 meter hurdles and Braeden Matthis (45.12) fourth.
 
The 4x100 meter relay of Williams, Ritter, Bastin and George was victorious in 45.38 seconds.
 
Matthis, Gorby, Vincent and Culicerto claimed the shuttle hurdles in 1:00.91.
 
Vincent and Williams were 1-2 in the high jump, both clearing 5’10.
 
Gorby (20’1.5) and Hunter Reid (18’2.25) finished second and fifth, respectively, in the long jump.
 
Matthis claimed second in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.98 seconds and Lawson Salisbury (18.44) was fourth.
 
Troy Zorick placed third in a competitive 800 meter run in 2:00.92, just 1.5 seconds off the lead.
 
The 4x800 relay of Northey, Parker Muncy, Andrew Wagner and Zorick finished third in 9:13.67.
 
Bastin, Moore, Nathaniel Morrow and Sean Veltri placed fourth in the 4x200 meter relay in 1:36.99.
 
Riley Pevler, Henley Hinkle, Salisbury and Reid took fourth in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:55.50.
 
Jaylen Brown (43’5), Brody Abraham (42’5) and Harrison Hall (41’1) were fourth, fifth and seventh in the shot put.
 
Brown (128’10) took fifth in the discus and Tytan Martin (126’5) sixth.
 
Graham Northey (4:57.12) took sixth in the 1600 meter run.
 
Tildon Cope (9’6) was eighth in the pole vault.
 
On the girls side, Emma Kniceley-See (13.13) won the 100 meter dash and Katie Backus (13.72) and Ellie Bongiorno (13.86) were fourth and fifth.
 
Haydn Henderson (27.20) won the 200 meter dash by milliseconds over RCB’s Abri Williams and Bongiorno (29.27), Carley Lattea (29.65) and Jenny Ruble (29.69) placed sixth through eighth.
 
Backus, Lattea, Kennedy Wolfe and Scarlett Edgell won the shuttle hurdles in 1:11.52.
 
Backus was first in the high jump with a best of 4’8 and Lattea places fourth with a clearance of 4’6.
 
Henderson won the long jump with a leap of 16’3.75.
 
In the 100 meter hurdles, Isla Tobrey (17.74 seconds), Edgell (17.87) and Lattea (18.18) were second through fourth.
 
Aria Selario (5:11.81) was the runner-up in the 1600 meter run by 0.34 seconds, while Mikaela DeMoss (5:39.89) placed sixth.
 
Tobrey cleared 8’0 for second place in the pole vault, with Edgell (7’6) third and Bongiorno (7’0) sixth.
 
Henderson was third in the 400 meter dash in 1:01.85 and Kniceley-See (1:03.65) came in sixth.
 
Wolfe (51.56 seconds) took third in the 300 meter hurdles and Edgell (53.82) placed sixth.
 
Lyhla Caplan, Ruble, Taylor Randolph and Backus were third in the 4x200 meter relay in  2:00.28.
 
Isabella McCullough finished third in the shot put with a best of 31’9.5 and Jazzy Brown was fifth with a throw of 27’8.
 
McCullough also claimed third in the discus with a distance of 84’9.
 
Selario (2:27.77) finished fourth in the 800 meter run with Bethsayed Dankiewicz (2:33.78) eighth.
 
Ruble, Mara Beverage, Randolph and Bongiorno placed fourth in the 4x100 meter relay in 55.49 seconds.
