Bridgeport Volleyball Starts Season with Oak Glen Tourney, Nicholas County Tri

The Bridgeport Indians volleyball team opened its campaign by going 1-3 at the Oak Glen Tournament last Saturday, then splitting a tri-match at Nicholas County.
 
The Tribe started with a 22-25, 25-15, 15-10 loss to Spring Mills. Taylor Randolph led BHS with nine kills and Rylee Decker added five. Rowyn Harris served three aces and Sylvia Devono had eight digs.
 
BHS then defeated Charleston Catholic 25-17, 20-25, 15-8. Decker, Randolph and Katie Backus landed five kills apiece. Decker and Randolph fired four aces each. Avery Humble recorded three blocks, while Randolph had seven digs and Devono and Olivia Bell six each.
 
Next was a 25-8, 25-19 loss to Herbert Hoover. Decker and Harris had three kills each and Decker two aces. Kennedy Wolfe distributed five assists.
 
Bridgeport then lost its rematch with Charleston Catholic, 25-27, 25-18, 16-14, despite five kills from Randolph, three aces from Devono, four blocks by Decker, 11 digs from Randolph and nine from Wolfe and 12 Backus assists.
 
On Tuesday, the Tribe beat Nicholas County in straight sets, 25-9, 25-14 behind four kills each from Wolfe and Harris, 10 assists from Backus and seven Devono digs.
 
Bridgeport then lost 25-20, 25-19 to Greenbrier East. Harris landed six kills, Randolph five and Wolfe four. Harris and Backus had two aces each, Backus passed out eight assists and Devono (11), Wolfe (9), Backus (8) and Randolph (7) added digs.
 
Bridgeport will have another full day this Saturday at the Philip Barbour Tournament, facing Spring Valley, Philip Barbour and Winfield in pool play, with placement matches to follow.
