Bridgeport's Mason Williams Wins West Virginia Open

By Michael Minnich on August 01, 2026

GLADE SPRINGS -- Bridgeport High alum Mason Williams shot a final-round 68 to finish at -10 and beat out Ryan Bilby (-7) for the championship at the 93rd West Virginia Open at The Resort at Glade Springs on Friday.

Williams, who played collegiate golf at Georgia Southern and is now playing professionally, shot a -2 70 in the opening round on the Stone Course to put himself in a tie for third, two strokes off the lead, then posted a 68 on Thursday on the Cobb Course to trail Bilby by one stroke.

Playing the Stonehaven Course, Williams was hot early, putitng up back-to-back-to-back birdies on the third, fourth and fifth holes.

After a pair of bogeys, Williams righted his round with back-to-back pars, then birdied No. 10, No. 11 and No. 13.

A bogey moved Willliams back to -9, but three pars and a birdie on the final holes of the tournament got the job done.

Two more Harrison County natives were in the top 10: Clarksburg's Carson Higginbotham shot 73, 70 and 72 to finish at -1 in a tie for fifth.

And Bridgeport's Lucas Cromeenes posted rounds of 70, 73 and 74 to pace in a tie for ninth.

Also, Bridgeport's Alex Randolph tied for 33rd (77-76-76) and Matthew Aman (79-75-76) tied for 37th and Clarksburg's Jace Pancaster (78-77-76) tied for 41st.

Bridgeport's Ben Randolph (81-80) and Shinnston's Buck Gower (84-77) missed the cut.
