By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 19, 2025
The Salem University Athletic Department is proud to announce the hiring of Jarin Hilson as the new assistant coach for its women's basketball program.
Hilson brings a championship pedigree and a proven track record in player development, game preparation, and team leadership. Most recently serving as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Langston University, Hilson helped lead the team to a remarkable 35-2 record, including a SAC Conference Championship and a run to the NAIA National Championship game during the 2024-2025 season. He also played a key role in developing multiple All-Conference and All-American athletes.
A former collegiate athlete himself, Hilson competed at Northwest Florida State, Shelton State, Wheeling Jesuit, and Talladega College, earning NAIA All-American honors. His coaching résumé includes a 61-10 overall record across two seasons and extensive experience in skill development for both guards and post players. Also a native West Virginian, Hilson brings some local knowledge as he hails from just up the road in Fairmont where he played for Fairmont Senior High School.
The Salem University Athletics Department is excited to welcome Jarin to the women's basketball staff, and we look forward to helping him and Head Coach Corey Hines build the women's basketball programs up to new heights in 2025-2026. Hines is also a graduate and former standout player from Fairmont Senior High School.
