Gabby Reep Makes MEC First Team, Brett Vincent Honored as Coach of Year

BRIDGEPORT – Bridgeport alum and current Fairmont State junior Gabby Reep has been named First Team All-Mountain East Conference by the league’s head coaches, while Shinnston native and West Virginia Wesleyan coach Brett Vincent is the Coach of the Year, the MEC announced.
 
Reep averaged 14.3 points per game and is second on the Fighting Falcons in scoring behind the injured Leslie Huffman.
 
She is also averaging 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.8 steals a contest.
 
Vincent helped the Bobcats to a 18-6 overall record and 15-5 in league play while securing the overall No. 2 seed in the MEC Tournament this week.
 
He is in his fifth season at the helm of WVWC.
 
Concord’s Abbie Smith is the Player of the Year.
 
She is averaging 18.8 points per game and leads the league in rebounds per game at 10.8.
 
Wheeling’s Kenzie Dalton has been named the MEC Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season.
 
She leads the MEC in steals with 95 on the season while averaging 3.4 per contest.
 
Dalton has also helped the Cardinals’ league-best scoring defense, which allowing opponents just 58.9 points per game.
 
West Virginia Wesleyan’s Kilah Dandridge has been named the MEC Freshman of the Year. The Martinsburg native is fifth in the league in scoring at 16.0 points per game and is third in the MEC in field goal percentage at 54.1%.
