What’s your favorite movie?
I like the Fast & Furious movies. I’m a big car person and there’s a lot of action, a lot of guns. Just fun action movies.

Who is the best high school athlete you have competed against?
I’d say Jerrae Hawkins from Wheeling Park. He’s at IMG (Academy) now.

Favorite subject in school?
As of right now it would probably be Theatre because I get to build sets, paint, construct stuff. It’s a lot more hands on stuff. But in an actual core class it’s probably Human Anatomy. I like learning about the body.

Any pre-race superstitions or rituals?
So, usually Ali (Burton) brings me a Honeycrisp apple. One day I was like, ‘Ali, I’m hungry.’ She gave me an apple and I ate it and I ran a sub 11 (in the 100). We did it again, I ate an apple and dropped time. It just seems like that apple gives me enough sugar but it has the hydration in it because of the water.

How do best you describe Coaches Grant Burton and Ali Burton?
They are both encouraging. They encourage you to do better but at the same time they let you do it on your own. They give you a little bit of freedom, so they aren’t up your tail the entire time.

Celebrity Crush?
This girl from Instagram, Madison Beer. She’s a Victoria’s Secret model.

Who’s the funniest runner on the BHS track teams?
I’d have to say Alex Moses. He comes to soccer games, basketball games and he will be the person you hear making everybody laugh.

If they would let you have a walk-up song, what’s playing?
“booman” by Baby Keem.

Where’s one place in the world you have never been to that you would like to visit?
Marbella, Spain. It’s like the yacht capital of the world. They’ve got F1 there, crazy cars, clear water.

Not counting track, what’s the best part of it being Spring?
The weather. Summer’s coming up. Hanging out with friends and stuff.

Favorite meal?
A good cheeseburger.

What’s one event in track you would like to try at least once that you have never tried?
I would like to try the javelin or the hammer. Sometimes I just get my bag and spin around and throw it.

Favorite pro or college athlete?
There’s a kid from Ashland (where Anderson will attend next year and run track) Trevor Bassitt, he runs the 400 and 400 hurdles. He’s pro now. He just has a really cool story. Only had two offers, got one from Ashland and ended up going pro. I’d also have to say some of the newer guys like Erriyon Knighton, he runs for Adidas. He’s 19 and running pro against guys like Noah Lyles. Noah is also one of my favorites.

Favorite pro or college team?
I’d say Ohio State. My Dad is from Ohio and a big fan.

What’s one thing it seems like everybody you know likes but you can’t stand?
Everybody I know likes chocolate. I don’t like chocolate unless it’s dark chocolate. And people like pickles, I don’t like pickles. Especially on a burger, I just want cheese, meat and ketchup, very simple.

What’s the best thing on TV right now?
I don’t watch a lot of TV. I watch a lot of YouTube and TikTok but I do like watching FI, motor cross, that type of racing.

What is your go-to concession stand order?
A pretzel. Cheese depends on how dry the pretzel is.

You wake up tomorrow as a superhero. What is your power?
Invisibility. I don’t want to say I could get in a lot of trouble, but you know … you could walk around and see what people really think about you.

What is the most important thing being an athlete at BHS has taught you?
Friendships. Track has brought a lot of friendships to me and getting to know people around school.

There’s a young kid in the community just getting into track and field what advice do you give him or her?
It doesn’t take a day to get fast. Usain Bolt said it took nine years to run 9 seconds. It’s not one day you run 12 seconds and the next day you run a 10.2. It takes forever, but don’t beat yourself down. It’s not an overnight thing.
