Looking to be School Mascot? If You're a Student at Glenville State College, the Opportunity is at Hand

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 24, 2021 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

For over 80 years, the Pioneer has served as Glenville State College’s (GSC’s) iconic mascot. Donning a coonskin hat and buckskin uniform and toting a musket, some of the responsibilities of the Pioneer include attending GSC athletic contests, tournaments, and other school events, working with GSC students, faculty, and staff to positively promote and support the college, and serving as the face of Glenville State College.

The tradition continues this semester as applications open for the 2021-2022 Pioneer Mascot.

“The Pioneer Mascot is at the forefront of the institution and is truly is the embodiment of what GSC represents. It is a symbol of pride and tradition. We are looking for a dedicated individual who can create a vibrant atmosphere for our campus and community. We are very excited to start the search,” said Director of Student Activities, Adrian Duelley.

The position is open to all GSC students. Applicants will complete a questionnaire and interview, and the final decision will be made by a selection committee. Students who are interested in applying should visit the Office of Student Life for more information and an application. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 12.

The chosen Pioneer will be announced during GSC Week in April.
