Mountaineers' 2019 Quarterback Depth to Take Hit as Trey Lowe has Entered NCAA Transfer Portal

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 17, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

In this recent report from MetroNews, Trey Lowe, who was never able to gain traction in West Virginia’s quarterback competition, announced on Thursday that he will enter the transfer portal upon earning his undergrad degree from WVU this summer.

Lowe, who originally signed to play football and baseball for the Mountaineers, announced his plans on Twitter.

Lowe will have completed his college degree in just over two years — as impressive a feat as any he might pull on the football field at his next destination.

The lone dual-threat on West Virginia’s roster the past two seasons, Lowe saw his first action in the 2018 Camping World Bowl against Syracuse. He completed two passes for 0 yards and had a nine-yard carry.

Last season Lowe made it onto the field for the finish of WVU’s 52-14 blowout loss at Oklahoma, but only handed the ball off as Neal Brown’s lone intention was getting out of town as quickly as possible.

Lowe still has three years of eligibility remaining.
