Top-Ranked East Fairmont Proves too Much for BHS by Taking 6-0 Win in Class AAA Semifinal in Beckley

Bridgeport's girls soccer team found themselves in a position too many teams have this year against East Fairmont. And that was in a position of playing from behind against perhaps the best team in all of West Virginia regardless of class. 
This time, however, the situation meant the end of the season for the Indians. This morning at the Paul Cline Memorial Complex in Beckley, the No. 4 seed Tribe fell by a 6-0 score to the top-seeded Bees in the Class AAA state semifinals.
With the setback, BHS closes its season at 11-9-2. East Fairmont remained unbeaten at 22-0.
The defending state champions has now posted 20 shutouts this year. Two of those shutouts came against Bridgeport as the Bees managed to take a 5-0 win against the Indians during regular season play.
Bridgeport did manage to keep the game interesting. The Tribe trailed 2-0 at the intermission, which would have been more than enough for EFHS to advance.
Lily Lernard continued her dominating play for the Bees. She had a hat trick in the win.
East Fairmont now moves into the Class AAA state championship game.
The Bees will play the winner of the Greenbrier East game with Nitro that is set for noon today. GEHS is the No. 2 seed, while Nitro is the 
No. 3 seed.

The Bees will battle for a repeat Saturday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
Bridgeport’s starters heading into the game Maria Day, Savannah Courtney, Delaney Dotson, Carley Lattea, Eliza Perine, Callahan, Ellie McCall, Lily Day, Allison Wilson, Marci Dotson, and Gianna Dumas.
The rest of the roster consists of Ariana Tate, Marcie Laverdierre, London Davis, Madison Stewart, Haydn Henderson, Emma Kniceley-See, Ally Day, Maleia Belcastro, Ellie Parker, and Gianna Vessechia.
