Tribe Volleyball Standout Addison Veigel to Continue Her Career at Next Level; Signs with Fairmont State

Fresh off an outstanding volleyball season that ended in the Class AAA state tournament and a recent all-Big 10 selection, Bridgeport High School’s Addison Veigel signed her letter of intent to continue her volleyball career with Fairmont State University next year.

A big draw was staying close to home and having her family attend home matches involving the Mountain East Conference School.

"I went to the campus this past summer and I really enjoyed the team atmosphere Coach (Travis) Hinkle has built there. Coach Hinkle was my travel coach this past season, so I got familiar with him and I know a few girls that play there and when I was there this summer, I really enjoyed the campus," said Veigel.

Veigel, a member of the 2024 state championship team, served as a setter for the Indians. Will she be doing that for the Falcons?
"Any place they need me I'll go, primarily probably setter, that is my main position,” said Veigel.

In addition to being a standout volleyball player, Veigel is a standout softball player for the Indians. However, she chose volleyball to play at the next level.

“To be honest, I really hadn't decided until I got that offer from Coach Hinkle and then I knew that this was the right thing for me,” she said.

Coach Ali Burton said Fairmont State is getting a talented player who will grow for the program.

“Addison is a great student athlete, she's not always the most vocal but she leads by example, she is extremely competitive and coachable. We are proud of how she has grown and represented BHS her 4 years on the volleyball team. We are excited to follow and root for her during this next part of her journey,” said Burton.

Even with her family and friends by her side at Monday’s signing, Veigel said it is hard to say goodbye to the Bridgeport volleyball program.

"It is bittersweet, I've made a lot of friends, Ali and (assistant Coach) Grant (Burton) have been amazing coaches, I wouldn't be where I am without them. They've definitely prepared us for college ball, so I think I'll be ready,” Veigel said.

Veigel’s academic plans for next year are not set in concrete but she believes she will study Exercise Science.
