Two Sides of the Same Coin: Bridgeport Visits Another Red-and-White Championship Program in Fort Hill

By Michael Minnich on October 02, 2026

The team in red-and-white can run the ball effectively and wins a lot because of it.

That's very true of both sides of tonight's football game between the Bridgeport Indians and the Fort Hill Sentinels, with the trip to storied Greenway Avenue Stadium in Cumberland, Maryland the Tribe's first-ever football game outside of the state of West Virginia.

Bridgeport (4-1) needs one yard to reach 2,000 net on the ground this year, led by 678 from Gabe Martin and 493 from Gavin Williams, with both finding the end zone 9 times.

Williams is expected to return to the Tribe lineup after missing most of the Philip Barbour game two weeks ago and all of Bridgeport's clash with Robert C. Byrd last week.

Fort Hill (4-0) has turned to Neek Taylor (55 carries, 389 yards, 8 touchdowns) and Carson Bender (52 carries, 333 yards, 5 touchdowns) to tote the rock in dominant wins over Northern Garrett (48-0), Belmont Charter (44-8), Southern Garrett (75-0) and a closer 35-21 win over Hollidaysburg last week.

Fort Hill has won 11 state football championships in Maryland, including 9 in Class 1A since 2013.

Bridgeport won the first meeting in the series at Wayne Jamison Field last year, 49-14, behind 193 yards and 4 touchdowns from Williams.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. tonight.
