STRONG Idea: 12 Days of Fitness; Day 2

By Emily Stapleton on December 03, 2013 from Strong Ideas via Connect-Bridgeport.com

On the second DAY OF FITNESS, my trainer gave to me 2-floor to ceilings and a 1-minute plank.

This is the second of a series of 12 posts designed to encourage you to meet the challenge of exercising for 12 consecutive days during the holiday season.  Need to start at the beginning? Click here.  Want to read more about the nature of the challenge? Click here.

The exercise of the day is a floor to ceiling.  Watch the video below for an example of this simple exercise.  Basically, you crouch down and touch the floor (dropping your butt down) then jump up and reach toward the ceiling.  If the jump is too much, just stand up straight and reach toward the ceiling.  You should feel your entire body extending and a stretch through your abs and back.

For the 12-day series, I’m only asking you to do 2 of them, but feel free to do more.  Need more ideas on how to customize the 12 DAYS OF FITNESS to your intensity level?  Read the original blog post here.

The crouching portion of the floor to ceiling improves range of motion through multiple joints.  The jumping portion provides a cardio challenge, strengthens all the muscles of the legs, and improves balance.  Happy jumping.
