The Grapevine: Getting the Coronavirus Vaccine and a Big Shout Out to Great Work by Health Department

By Rosalyn Queen on January 14, 2021 from The Grapevine via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Well, I did it!

If you are a regular reader of mine, I can just about guess what is going through your mind.  First you might say she got married. Then you might think that I decided to move down south.  Then there could be the possibility that I wrote another book.  How about I enrolled in college to get a degree? There is also the possibility that I got a job and I guess there is a long list of other things we could add, but it is not any of the above.

The answer to the question is that I got my Coronavirus vaccination. I was able to get an appointment at the Clarksburg-Harrison Health Department.  They were so organized.

We were taken in and they assisted us with filling out our forms, then we took our shot.  Everything went just like time work and the next thing I knew I was done and on my way home.

When I got home, I will have to confess that I did have a little reaction. But nothing I could not tolerate. I was advised that I would have to return in about 21 days for another shot and then I guess I am done.  I had made my mind up a good while back that I would take the shot as soon as it was available.

I would feel more at ease having the shot then taking a chance on getting the virus.  It has certainly scared me with all the deaths and with all the conditions that those who have contacted it have had. Those getting shots were the 80 and older and the staff were most helpful with those in wheelchairs and canes.  Hats off to the Health Department for their careful and considerate handling of this operation.

Well, I did another thing and that was get my Christmas decorations down. I was in no hurry because I so enjoy the lights and especially my nativity scene. But everything is packed away and ready for next year. I did get my Valentine decorations out and placed a wreath on the door.  I leave my Christmas tree on the patio all year round and decorate it according to the season.  It now has red tinsel and red hearts on it.

I do not think that there is an adequate comment I can make about the riots in Washington this week.  I was so disappointed to see this happening and hope that this is the end and that we will get to the business at hand. There are greater minds than mine as to how to settle this situation and I surely hope they will come up with a solution.

Stay healthy and continue to follow the guidelines for the quarantine.  Remember to wear your mask and wash your hands frequently.  If we follow these guidelines, maybe it soon will be over and we can return to a normal life, whatever that may be.  Take care and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
