Easter has come and gone with what seems to have been a very different holiday.  I do not know how many people had the opportunity to have a family gathering.    With the restrictions I know it might be impossible to have a family get together?  I tried every way I knew to get my family together but they were adamant about protecting themselves and me.  I lessened the heartache of being alone by baking a ham, fixing sweet potatoes, having pickled beets and eggs, and making a nice salad.  Needless to say I was off my diet, but I chose this over a  lonely Easter dinner and I am learning to really enjoy the mass on EWTN.

 

Potted and fresh flowers are prettier than ever this year.  My favorite flowers are pansies with their little faces and I will admit that once in a while I will talk to them.  My son-in-law Dixon and my daughter Leslie got me two pots and they are a beautiful purple and white. Daughter Lisa and her family got me a vase of tulips that almost look like roses.

 

My sister Cathy made the Easter bread using the recipe in my cookbook and she tried a new recipe, Romanian Easter Pie.  Easter bread was used for the crust and the filling was ricotta cheese, raisins and a few other items which made it delicious.  It was worth getting off my diet. 

 

I want to publicly apologize for my attitude for this confinement . I certainly  have much to be thankful for and I promise to have a more optimistic attitude.

 

I have been passing the time reading books. My granddaughter, Miranda brought me three books which she had recently added to her library.  They are At The Waters Edge,  All The Light We Cannot See and The Secrets We Kept. The last was a novel about Dr. Zivagho and I felt like I could share so much more because I had seen the movie probably in the sixties.  If you saw the movie you will remember the coat she wore which became a. fashion  item and of course I had to get one.  If you can get any of these, maybe on line, I am sure you will enjoy them.  Some of my shut in friends are enjoying working puzzles.  Keep busy and I am Jealous of you who have gotten your Spring cleaning done?  I got one closet done and my patio is all clean and ready for guests.  A reminder that the Food Pantry and the Pet pantry is furnishing food for those who need it at the PWA located Washington Street.  Just call 304-634-6881 and make an appointment.
