The Grapevine: Rev. Denise M. Steffich to be Keynote Speaker for PWA's Women of Distinction Event

By Rosalyn Queen on October 02, 2025 from The Grapevine

As the chairperson of the Progressive Women’s Association Women of Distinction event, I am pleased to announce we have been able to secure Denise Steffich to deliver the Keynote Address.

After a decade of honoring women in our area for the volunteer services they provide, the PWA will continue to present this program. There is no amount of money that can be attached to the ladies who care for grandchildren, their parents, or assistance to a neighbor. Consider the events they chair in our community to raise money.

October is Italian Culture Month and those women being honored are of Italian descent.

As for our guest speaker, Steffich will share with the audience the invaluable services supplied by volunteers for the hospital. Below is a biography of her.

Rev. Denise M. Steffich, CDVS, brings over 35 years of dedicated service to United Hospital Center, where she serves as Director of Volunteer Services and Spiritual Care. In this role, she oversees the work of more than 100 volunteers, both paid and volunteer chaplains and has managed large-scale auxiliary fundraising efforts and hospital-wide volunteer initiatives. She is a Certified Director of Volunteer Services and a past president of both the West Virginia Society of Directors of Volunteer Services and the Southeastern Healthcare Volunteer Leaders organization, where she continues to mentor new leaders.

Beyond her work at UHC, Denise is an ordained Assemblies of God minister, serving as a chaplain, itinerant preacher, ministry leader, and speaker. She has been deeply involved in community and church ministry throughout her life, leading prayer groups, mentoring youth, organizing women’s conferences, and serving in prayer and teaching ministries. Denise and her husband, John, make their home in Bridgeport. They enjoy their family of three children, seven grandchildren, and six rescued cats!

The luncheon will be held on Friday, Oct. 24 at noon at the Uptown Event Center in Clarksburg. The public is invited to attend but reservations are required by calling 304-624 6881.

At the luncheon, The Antero Resource award will be presented to each honoree. Davis Funeral Home is the sponsor of the event.

Enjoy the fall weather in October. Remember that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and until next week, “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
