Great History, Cold Beverages and Plenty of Fantastic Menu Offerings at Iconic Business North of City

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 05, 2021 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Our friends at Onlyinyourstate.com continue to provide great information on local businesses, destinations, attractions and more from their Web site. This week, it is Mario's Fishbowl, just up Interstate 79 North of Bridgeport. As always, please check with local businesses before making a trip due to possible changes in how operations are handled due to COVID.

Here you go:

Mario’s Fishbowl has been around for the past 70 years, serving up large goblets of beer also known as “fishbowls.” The bar and grill started off as a confectionery that sold groceries, ice-cream, and beer on tap to the neighborhood residents. Over the past several decades, the spot has become a local hangout for West Virginia University (WVU) students and visitors that come to Morgantown throughout the year.

Locals love to gather at Mario’s Fishbowl to enjoy good drinks and food after a long week.

This popular spot has three central locations, with two in Morgantown and one in Westover. The name “Mario’s Fishbowl” comes from the famous frosty beer that’s served in large goblets.
