Halloween May be Over, but West Virginia Paranormal Trail Welcoming Visitors Through End of the Year

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 14, 2025

Halloween may be over, but a spine-tingling spirit lives on in the hills and valleys of West Virginia as the state-wide Paranormal Trail remains open through the end of the year. Brave travelers can continue their daring exploration of 21 haunted sites across the Mountain State while claiming exclusive rewards for their courage.

“Don’t let the change of the season keep you inside,” said West Virginia Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby. “From guided mystery tours to interactive museums, there are endless West Virginia adventures that can be enjoyed all autumn long. I’m thrilled to welcome visitors from all over the world to experience some of the state’s most haunted hidden gems.”

Since its initial launch, over 10,000 visitors from 47 states and seven countries have registered for a free mobile passport, leading to more than 8,000 check-ins across the trail’s spooky sites. The trail continues to receive national recognition and has been featured in top-tier travel publications including Travel + Leisure, Forbes and Thrillist. Paranormal Trail passports and prize redemptions will be available until December 31, 2025.

How to Participate

To get started, click HERE and register for a free West Virginia Paranormal Trail Passport by filling out your contact information. After signing up, the digital passport will be delivered to your phone via text or to the email provided. You can then begin exploring the haunts of West Virginia and check in at participating locations to earn exclusive prizes:

  • Check in at three or more spots and receive a holographic sticker.

  • Check in at seven or more spots and receive a custom keychain.

  • Check in at 15 or more spots and receive an official Paranormal Trail trucker hat.

  • Check in at all locations and receive a limited edition lantern.
