Interstate 79 Road Work in Both Directions North of City, Running Through Sept. 20, to Cause Daily Delays

The West Virginia Division of Highways advises motorists that there will be a Traffic Delay on Interstate 79 Northbound and Southbound beginning on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 7 a.m. through Monday, Sept. 20, 2021 at 7 a.m.
 
Alternate Routes will be US Route 250.
 
The purpose of the Traffic Delay is for roadway widening of both I-79 Northbound and Southbound (Exit 132 to Exit 135). Work will begin on I-79 Northbound and Southbound, installing steel barriers to modify the traffic pattern to 2-11 foot lanes in both directions.
 
This traffic pattern will be in place 24/7. Expect delays. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow additional time for their commute.
 
Please note that inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
