Some folks sweated, some took in the view and others just kicked their feet up during Saturday morning's race. (Jeff Toquinto) Olivia Spatafore, 8, congratulates her younger brother Anthony, 7, after completing the race as well as being the youngest competitor in the event. (Jeff Toquinto) Racers and strollers were a common theme during Saturday's race, and those pushing them didn't let it get in the way of a strong showing. (Jeff Toquinto) Father Hilarion Cann, formerly of All Saints Catholic Church, provided an inspirational invocation. His words proved to be motivation for winner Zach Williams. (Jeff Toquinto) Runners make their way down Johnson Avenue, in front of Bridgeport Middle School. (Jeff Toquinto) Zach Williams has things in control as he heads past Bridgeport Middle School toward the finish line on the track at Wayne Jamison Field. (Jeff Toquinto) Lead driver Mike Caputo follows a Bridgeport Police Department motorcycle as it heads toward the entrance of Jamison Field. (Jeff Toquinto) Volunteers, city police, city fire/ambulance and others helped control traffic and handle other chores that made Saturday's race a success. (Jeff Toquinto) Runners had their numbers removed - in order - by volunteers at the finish line. (Jeff Toquinto) Female and male participants alike crossed the finish line, some with smiles, some with pain and all likely with a sense of accomplishment. (Jeff Toquinto) Prior to Zach Williams breaking away, he was in a large group of runners as they approached Bridgeport High School along Johnson Avenue. (Jeff Toquinto) As runners turn onto Stout Street, Zach Williams begins to seperate himself from the pack and also gets up close and personal with lead truck driver Mike Caputo's vehicle. (Jeff Toquinto) The morning humidity didn't phase this young lady as she was all smiles heading toward the finish line. (Jeff Toquinto) Albert McQuain takes a much-deserved breather after this morning's race. He was the event's senior member at 76 years of age. (Jeff Toquinto) Zach Williams jokes with his closest competitor, Matthew Stodelman, early in Saturday's race along Johnson Avenue. (Jeff Toquinto) The youngster in the stroller takes a quick peek over his stroller to see who is in front and perhaps to see who is in the stroller behind. (Jeff Toquinto) The steep incline on Worthington Drive proved to be no match for Zach Williams. (Jeff Toquinto) This young man took the opportunity to turn his race number into a scripture reading. Creativity, this shows, isn't confined to just classrooms or the workplace. (Jeff Toquinto) Runners check to see how they finished overall and in their respective age categories once the results were posted. (Jeff Toquinto) At the end of the day, this youngster had taken in more than enough racing and decided to catch a few moments of shuteye. (Jeff Toquinto)
