BHS Talent Show Scheduled for Thursday Night

Brooke Cottrill placed as Second Runner-Up in the 2016 Mountaineer Idol at West Virginia University.  What many may not realize, however, is that her talents were actually showcased during the Bridgeport High School Talent Show when she was a senior at BHS in 2013.

This year’s Annual Bridgeport High School Talent Show will take place on Thursday, February 9, in the BHS Auditorium at 7:00p.m.

With over a dozen performers, this year’s talent show promises to entertain the crowd as they sing, dance and joke their way through the event.

“We have a lot of very talented students at our school,” said co-organizer Caleb Brinson.  “We are hoping to have a big crowd Thursday night to showcase their individual gifts.”

Proceeds from the show will benefit BHS DECA, a student organization that focuses on marketing, management, entrepreneurship, finance and hospitality.  The group is raising funds to attend the International Competitive Events in Anaheim, California in April, where they will have the opportunity to earn scholarships and internships with major businesses.

Brinson, along with co-organizer Jeffrey Chalfant, have planned and implemented this year’s BHS Talent Show. Through the hands-on experience, they have learned valuable business skills such as setting a budget, time management, event planning and human relations.

“We look forward to the BHS Talent Show every year and it was a great opportunity to be behind the scenes this year and put some of the classroom content into action,” said Chalfant.

Tickets for the show will be available at the auditorium door on Thursday night for $5 and the event is open to the public.
