Bridgeport's Newest Business Offers Unique Service for Recovery Efforts and Headed by BHS Alum

Based on the Bible verse, Hebrews 6:19, Bridgeport High School alum Ben Randolph’s new business was named for both for the hope it provides and for the steadfast way this unique recovery service acts as an anchor for those who are affected by addiction.

Anchor Recovery Solutions, which opened for business this week, offers a service unlike any provided in this area.  After having seen first-hand what addiction can do to families, employers and individuals, Randolph created the business to offer long-term assistance to enable healing with accountability, support and resources.

There are some professions, such as doctors and lawyers, that provide a network of resources that allow those addicted to remain employed as they recover.  For those not in those specific career fields, however, long-term accountability and support is limited, leaving families and employers to use valuable time and energy trying to ensure consistency with the addict’s behavior and reliability.

“We provide in-house, non-clinical individual and group support, drug testing services, counselling referrals, and reporting programs for employers and families who seek additional assistance during the recovery efforts,” said Randolph.  “After addicts have gone through the initial treatment options, they sometimes relapse if not given a long-term solution.  Anchor Recovery Solutions is that solution. We act as a liaison between the recovering addict and the family or employer.”

Recognizing that many employers do not have the desire, resources or expertise to provide the long-term support and ensure compliance, Randolph created the business in order to monitor addict-employees, allowing them to keep their positions as valuable employees in various industries.  It gives the employers peace of mind regarding safety and productivity and it gives an extra incentive to those in recovery to stay on course.

Randolph, who is currently in Peer Recovery Coach training, has an extensive network of professionals from which to draw.  Partnering with a nationally known company, drug screening will be done in a clinical setting. Intensive Outpatient Therapy (IOP) referrals can be made when necessary and guidelines can be put into place requiring attendance at area support meetings such as Celebrate Recovery.

“Taking on the role of ‘recovery babysitter’ can be draining on employers and family.  Our programs take on that responsibility and restores familial and employer relationships, reinstating trust,” said Randolph.
