SUBMITTED BY WVU ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT:

The internationally-acclaimed hit theater show “The Simon & Garfunkel Story” will stop at the WVU Creative Arts Center Tuesday, Nov. 6. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.  This immersive concert-style performance chronicles the amazing journey shared by the folk-rock duo Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel – from their humble beginnings as teenage pop stars Tom & Jerry, to their incredible success as one of the bestselling music groups of the ‘60s, to their dramatic split in 1970. This performance is part of the University Arts Series presented by University Toyota. Tickets are on sale now at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, online at Ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 304-293-7469 and 800-745-3000.

In addition to huge projection photos and original footage, The Simon & Garfunkel Story features a full live band performing all the duo’s hits, including “Mrs. Robinson,” “Cecilia,” “Bridge Over Trouble Water,” “Homeward Bound,” and many more. The show culminates with the famous “Concert in Central Park” reunion in 1981 that drew more than half a million fans.

Simon & Garfunkel’s perfect harmonies and songs poignantly captured the times. The duo sold more than 100 million albums in 1965. One of the most successful folk-rock duos of all time, the two have won 10 Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. “Bridge Over Trouble Water” was nominated for Best International Album at the 1977 Brit Awards and in 2003, Simon and Garfunkel were awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Their single “The Sound of Silence,” with its simplistic melody and lyrics that speak of youthful alienation, also earned the duo a Grammy Hall of Fame award.

Tickets start at $39 for the general public and at $24 for WVU Students. Tickets are on sale now at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, online at ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 304-293-SHOW (7469) and 800-745-3000. WVU Student discounted tickets are limited to one per valid WVU Student ID or offer code.
