ORIGINAL STORY: Many in the community have anxiously awaited the premiere of “A Promise to Astrid.” A project of JC Films and starring Dean Cain, the movie was filmed in the Bridgeport community and surrounding areas throughout 2018. It’s only fitting, said JC Films President Jason Campbell, that the film be seen for the first time in Bridgeport.

A premiere is being organized for early- May.

“I’m excited for this community – which has been so supportive of this film – to see it for the first time. It has gone through a series of edits and some scenes have been reshot to accomplish just what we were after, but we are very pleased with how it turned out,” Campbell said. “We were so pleased that so many locals expressed interest to be in this movie; most making their very first appearances in front of the camera.”

“A Promise to Astrid” is based on a true story written by Mike Tourville, who came to know Astrid as a neighbor and friend in their small Massachusetts hometown. The elderly woman left a legacy worthy of sharing as she led a life of helping others through a series of acts of kindness; many anonymously. The tile role is played by JoAnn Peterson of Kingwood, who portrays various historical women through the West Virginia Humanities Council's "History Alive" program.

Cain, who has starred in many JC Films projects, plans to attend the premiere while he is in town shoot his scenes for the company’s next Bridgeport-based movie.

Based on a true story, “A Child of the King” will be filmed in the city May 4-10 after filming for the same movie takes place in Banos, Ecuador April 6-14. Several cast members from “A Promise to Astrid” will also be appearing in the new movie, but many other parts are available.

“A Child of the King” is a true story of an American physician who received a unique calling from God to protect millions of orphaned and abandoned children dying in the jungles of South America. Campbell said King’s step of faith is a stunning example of how God – through those who are willing - miraculously transforms lives of thousands of forgotten children with His hope and healing. He said the story of faith, suffering and love will forever change the hearts of those who learn about it.

Dr. King will be played by Michael Sigler, a regular with JC Films, who was also in “A Promise to Astrid” and “Megan’s Christmas Miracle,” among many other projects.

A believer of JC Films and their positive effects on viewers, Sigler said he looks forward to the development of “A Child of the King” and is pleased and honored to portray Dr. King.

Additional lead/supporting lead roles are held by Kathy Patterson, Mel Rivera, Katherine Shaw and Gary Lee Vincent.
