BHS Announces Seth Friel and Gina Marano as the February Students of the Month

Bridgeport High School has announced that Seth Friel and Gina Marano are the February Students of the Month.
Seth Friel is the son of Travis and Brenda Friel of Bridgeport. As an honor roll student, he has been a member of the Bridgeport High School football team for the past four years winning three AA State titles.  He has also been a member of the Bridgeport High School baseball team for the past three years and experienced two AA State baseball titles. He lettered in football his sophomore, junior, and senior years.   As a junior, he was Player of the Week in football. Senior year accomplishments in football were first team All-County, first team Big 10, and All-State Special Honorable Mention.
 
Seth is a member of the DECA Club, French Club and French Honor Society.  He participated in Student Council's "Shop for Tots," and was chosen this year to play Santa Claus, which he describes as a huge honor.
 
He is a member of All Saints Catholic Church and Young Life and has volunteered many hours through these organizations.
 
Seth plans to attend Fairmont State University and play football while majoring in Civil Engineering.
 
Gina Marano  is the daughter of Albert and Kelly  Marano of Quiet Dell. She has successfully maintained a grade point average of 3.8, and is a member of the National Honor Society.  While at Bridgeport she has been an active member of Student Council, and has been part of the Executive Board for the past two years. She is also a member of the Drug Free Clubs of America.
 
For the past four years, Gina, has started for BHS Lady Indian 's soccer team, playing defensive positions. She has earned soccer honors for All-County during her Freshman, Sophomore, and Senior years, and was selected to play in the North- South soccer game at the end of her Senior season. During the off season she played travel soccer for Fury Soccer Club.
 
Gina is an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she has been  an alter server since the fifth grade. She has participated in community service projects such as helping with Lenten dinners, and baking cookies for shut- ins. She also enjoyed helping with the BHS Shop for Tots program.
 
Marano has worked at Mountaineer World since her Sophomore year. During her free time, she enjoys running and working out, and pasta Sundays with her family.
 
She has been accepted to West Virginia University  where she plans on studying  nursing.
