Annual Square One Art Event Scheduled for September 28 at BHS

Some children may be little Picassos and some children’s artwork may need some interpretation.  To parents and grandparents, however, it’s all priceless and beautiful.  Students from preschool through fifth grade will have the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind art that can be turned into keepsakes just in time for the holidays.

For the sixth year in a row, Bridgeport High School DECA will be hosting Square One Art for elementary school artists.  The program will begin at 3:00p.m. on Thursday, September 28 and end at 4:30p.m. in the BHS Cafeteria.  The session costs just $5 and the child’s artwork will be turned into stickers for them to keep.

After the original artwork is sent to Square One Art Company, parents will receive a packet showcasing their child’s work on items such as holiday ornaments, phone cases, keychains and more.  Parents can order directly with the company and get unique gifts and keepsakes of their child’s artwork that is signed by their little artist.
This year, the event will also serve as a drop off point for Charlotte’s Toy Drive.  Unwrapped holiday gifts for kids of all ages can be dropped off as part of Charlotte Kirby’s annual efforts to provide toys for kids.

High school students will be on hand to assist the children as they create their masterpieces.  Art has been proven to be a valuable educational tool that helps with creativity, problem-solving and application processes.  This event allows students from multiple levels to collaborate or work individually on art projects that will be forever preserved in various keepsakes.
