When the calendar flipped to February, a very special partnership went into action. For the entire month, Bridgeport McDonald’s will be working with Bridgeport High School DECA on a project aimed to increase awareness of some new services offered by McDonald’s.
“The Bridgeport High School marketing classes have helped with product development and promotional efforts over the years and we wanted to include them in this project to provide a hands-on approach to marketing our new services,” McDonald’s Marketing Manager Lisa Cook said.  “Additionally, we are offering a fundraising incentive for the group in order to help them attend international DECA competitions.”
Nearly one year ago, McDonald’s launched their ordering app in over 20,000 restaurants. The app offers substantial discounts and deals with past offerings including free food, beverages and free happy meals with purchase of a salad.
“The deals change every five to seven days and the app keeps track of favorite orders and payment preferences,” said Cook.  “It can also detect how close you are to a location for easy pickup.”
The McDonald’s App is designed for convenience and allows for payment and preparation as soon as an order is made.  Meals ordered on the app can be picked up inside the restaurant, delivered to the curbside pickup area or picked up in the drive thru with a 4-digit code confirming the order.
“The marketing students in the DECA club will be raising awareness of the app at the Bridgeport location, helping people download and use the app and making sure they can access the specials for future use,” said Cook.  “They are also promoting it at Bridgeport High School and in the community, allowing them apply promotional skills learned in the class.”
DECA students will be assisting customers at the Bridgeport McDonald’s from 8:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. on February 12 and 19.  When a customer downloads the app, presents the flyer the students will provide, and orders with the app, the customer will receive a free dollar menu item and the BHS DECA Club will receive $1.00 for each one used.
“We are glad to partner with a McDonald’s,” said DECA President Carlie Crayton.  “It is always beneficial when we can get first-hand experience in marketing and the new app and pick up services are amazing.”
The McDonald’s App and Mobile Ordering allows for different meal options with discounts as well as kiosk machines will be installed in the near future.  McDonald’s is trying to meet the needs of every customer we have,” Cook said.  The partnership with BHS DECA will last the entire month of February and additional questions can be directed to
