Healthy Kids First: Recipe Series Gets a Bit Fishy

By Mandy Curry on June 22, 2012 from Healthy Kids First via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Welcome to Week 2 of our Recipe Series.

Inquiring minds want to know: How did you do last week? Was the Chicken Lo Mein a hit with the family?

Don't be discouraged if things didn't go as planned. Two factors may be to blame:

  1. Kids have unique pallets.  New foods and textures can sometimes take a while to get used to.  In fact, it may take 10 attempts before they like a new meal.  Don't give up.
  2. Dinner time is notorious for battles.  We take great pride in our meals and having everyone try your meal is an expression of love.  Kids have no idea what that means.  All they know is that we're tired and desperate.
Remember that this process takes time. Hats off to you for giving new recipes a try and for embarking on a healthier eating lifestyle.

This week we're presenting you with a tasty breaded tilapia with pasta salad. It's important to include fish in our diets each week and this recipe is a kid pleaser.  Pair this with a simple pasta salad loaded with veggies and you're good to go.

Enjoy!
