Time Travel: Downtown Bridgeport's Roth Motel and the Courthouse Plaza at Christmas Circa 1983

By Dick Duez on May 07, 2017 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

At one time, motels were common place along U.S. Route 50 and Bridgeport was not the exceptions. If the buildings look familiar it's because they're still there today. This is the Roth Motel on Main Street from the 1950s that, like so many others, were victims of the opening of the interstate system. Notice it touts "TV" and "Air Conditioned" as part of it's attempt to lure travelers.
Decorations on the front of the Harrison County Courthouse have changed, but have been commonplace for decades. Here's a look back at how the Courthouse appeared during Christmas of 1983. In behind the giant snowman is a trailer that housed Santa.
