Time Travel: In Honor of Coach Wayne Jamison, Trio of Photos from 1979 State Championship Run

By Dick Duez on March 04, 2018 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Robert "Bobby" Marra is seconds away from hauling in an interception in the Class AAA state title game the Indians would win in 1979 against St. Albans.
While this looks like a soon to be completed pass against the Indians, Brad Minetree had other ideas as he stripped the ball away in what would turn out to be a 7-6 win against Parkersburg in the 'AAA' semifinals played in Clarksburg at Hite Field in 1979.
In the mud at muck at Hite Field, John Pinti gets ready to kick what was definitely the biggest extra point of the year for the Indians and among the most critical in Bridgeport High School history. The kick was good and proved to be the winning points in a 7-6 victory against a Parkersburg team most thought they couldn't beat. History proved otherwise. All three photos are courtesy of Mrs. Alice Rowe and the BHS Journalism Department. The photos are from the January, 1980 edition of the SHAWNEE POWWOW.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard
