Time Travel: Looking Back at Church Damage in 1970 City Tornado and City of Clarksburg Bus Terminal

By Dick Duez on August 20, 2017 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

It was about 47 years ago to the day that Bridgeport was struck by a tornado on August 22, 1970. Shown here is the Simpson Creek Baptist Church the day after with a C&P Telephone truck coming in to try and help repair damage.
These buses are parked behind the old bus terminal station on Fourth Street in Clarksburg. The Carmichael Auditorium was to the right of this.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
