At the January meeting of 100+Women Who Care - Harrison County, members voted to help fund the Bridgeport High School DECA club. On March 8, a check was presented to Trina Runner, a BHS faculty member and DECA sponsor.

DECA provides education in marketing, management and entrepreneurship, helping high school students develop leadership skills, prepare for careers in marketing and management and participate in community service projects.

The check presentation was held at the Benedum Civic Center. Accompanying Runner were some of her students. In the amount of $2,050, the contribution will assist DECA in its educational, travel and charitable projects. BHS DECA participates in state and national competitions, providing students with opportunities to earn scholarship awards.

At the January meeting, members also heard a presentation on Literacy Volunteers of Harrison County and the great work bieng done by the organization. Also speaking was Brooke Rollins, who shared how The Jack Strong Foundation used last quarter's award to donate seven $500 checks to families with children fighting cancer. Rollins read each of the children's names that were helped.

100+ Women Who Care - Harrison County will next meet at 6:30 p.m. April 18 at Bridgeport Country Club. Representatives of local charitable organizations will make presentations and members will then vote on the cause to be funded.
