After Successful Mud Run Fundraiser, One King Sports Holds First Basketball Registration; New Division Added

By Julie Perine on September 22, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

After making about $35,000 on the August mud run, One King Sports is up and running and holding its first basketball registration.

Ricky Hitt said he and his fellow One King Sports founders/organizers are investigating a few options for the purchase of land to build a community gymnasium which will house a number of faith-based, youth athletic programs.

For the time being, basketball for the Pre-K through fourth grade division will be held at Horizons Church in Lost Creek. The newly-added fifth and sixth grade division will play at Genesis Youth Crisis Center in Clarksburg. All practices will begin in December and games will start after the first of the year, Hitt said.

To sign up for the league, create a parent/guardian account HERE and thereafter enter registration information. Cost is $85 per child with a $10 discount for each additional child in a family.

Each registered player must attend one evaluation. Options are Oct. 24, Oct. 31 and Nov. 7. All evaluations will be held at Horizons Church in Lost Creek.
Evaluation times are 9-10 a.m. Pre-K and first grade; 10-11 a.m. second through fourth grade and 11 a.m.-noon fifth and sixth grade.

Hitt extends appreciation to more than 1,000 attendees, including 600 registered runners, who helped make the inaugural One King Mud Run a success. Plans are already in the works for next year’s event. The vision is coming along and things seem to be falling into place, Hitt said.

"It's crazy," he said. "We really feel like God has his hand in it."
