School is in session for the big kids and little ones can engage in organized learning too. Bridgeport Parks and Recreation’s Little Explorers begins a new class Sept. 6 at Benedum Civic Center. This session’s topic, said Instructor Anita Jesmer, is Reptiles and Amphibians.

“The kids will be learning about their characteristics and the environment which they live and making wiggly snakes, frog puppets, crocodile creatures and turtle peg boards,” she said. There will also be live animals which the students can touch and observe and we are also going to be having a guest speaker to talk about snakes.”

Little Explorers is appropriate for children age two and a half through seven.

“We also welcome home-school children who may be a bit older,” Jesmer said.

Classes take place at the Benedum Civic Center on West Main Street, Bridgeport. There are three options for class time. Little Explorers will meet 10-11 a.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, as well as 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays. The cost is $35 per student.

Parents can register by stopping at the Benedum Civic Center or calling Bridgeport Parks and Recreation at 304-842-8240.

“Come and enjoy the fun,” Jesmer said. “I look forward to getting slimy with you and your child!”

The Reptiles and Amphibians session runs Sept. 6 through Sept. 28.
