I-79 Bridge Work in Marion County to Cause Delays

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on December 02, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

FROM THE WEST VIRGINIA DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS

The West Virginia Division of Highways advises motorists that there will be a Lane Closure-Traffic Delay on Interstate 79, Exit 136 (Downtown Fairmont) to Exit 138 (East Fairmont, Prickett’s Creek Road) both Northbound and Southbound today (Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018) from 8 a.m. through 6 p.m.

The purpose for the closure is to place asphalt on roadway approaches at Exit 137 (East Park Avenue).  I-79 will be narrowed to a single lane (12 ft wide) both Northbound and Southbound, placing asphalt on the approaches of the existing bridge structure at Exit 137 (East Park Avenue).

These lane closures will be from Sunday throughout the day into Sunday evening.  The Northbound On-Ramp at Exit 137 will be open but a “STOP” condition entering onto I-79.  Use caution and expect delays.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow additional time for their commute.  Please note, inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
