Educator for Nearly 50 Years, Church Leader, History Advocate in Area, James W. Daddysman, Passes

James W. Daddysman, a resident of Philippi, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022, in the United Hospital Center at the age of 85.  James was born October 17, 1936, in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Homer and Anna Pauline (Feaster) Daddysman.  James was united in marriage to Jean (Myers) Daddysman who survives at home.  Also surviving are children, Elizabeth Harward of Philippi, Matthew Daddysman and wife Soyoung of Chicago, IL, Jennifer Daddysman of Lexington, KY, and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
 
James was preceded in death by his sister, Harriet Daddysman, and brothers, Homer “Sonny” and John Daddysman.
 
James retired from Alderson Broaddus University with over 45 years of service as a History Professor.  James was known as the Voice of the Battlers, and he led two groups of students in 1997 and 2007 for a semester in Europe.
 
James was an active member of his local church, serving as an elder and teaching various adult and children’s Bible classes.  He participated in the Blue & Grey Reunion, giving tours of the Covered Bridge.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
