On April 4th, GSU President Mark A Manchin and WVSP Colonel J.C. Chambers signed the West Virginia State Police Law Enforcement Training Articulated and Academic Credit Agreement, an agreement that fortifies the partnership and excellence of law enforcement and education in the State of West Virginia. This collaboration provides a mutually beneficial enhancement to the educational atmosphere of classes at Glenville State and the skills and abilities of law enforcement officers.

 

Dr. Manchin along with GSC Criminal Justice Department Chair Dr. Donal Hardin, Assistant Professor Dr. Robert Rice and Criminal Justice students traveled to the WVSP Academy in Dunbar, WV to meet with with members of the West Virginia State Police about this agreement. Dr. Manchin shared his appreciation of the WVSP prior to the signing. He stated “I have the greatest admiration of the WV State Police. It is an honor to provide this opportunity to those who put their life on the line to protect and serve all of us here in West Virginia. On behalf of Glenville State University and all WV citizens, we are proud to be part of this incredible training program.” Dr. Hardin also thanked Colonel Chambers and all members of the WVSP while expressing his excitement for this new partnership. “I’m thrilled to see this partnership with the State Police to enrich training in the classroom and increase best practices,” said Donal.

 

Qualifying Law Enforcement Officers will receive up to 60 credit hours and a 38% tuition reduction in the per credit hour tuition rate. The Glenville State University Department of Criminal Justice teaches real-world skills for future or current criminal justice practitioners. Professors in the department are seasoned professionals in their field. They are dedicated to providing career focused skills and knowledge necessary to succeed the fields of law enforcement, corrections, probation, parole, and the court. Majors are available in Administration of Justice and Field Forensics.
