BHS alumnus Heather Bell will be showing off her skills, along with her team, on June 4 at the Bridgeport Skating Rink as the Morgantown Roller Vixens take on the Greenbrier River Rollers in their final bout of the season in Roller Derby.

Founded in 2010, the Morgantown Roller Vixens have proven to be a competitive force in the rink as the all-female team have dominated all season.  Bell, who goes by the name Rita Repulsa while skating, has been with the group for three years and was chosen to participate in the West Virginia All Stars team.

“Bridgeport Skate World is one of our newest sponsors and they hosted our season opener,” said Bell.  “The crowd and energy was amazing and I am excited to end the season back in my hometown.”

“Each bout is played for a different charity and this one will be played for Hearts of Gold,” said coordinator Abby Chapman.  The organization trains service dogs for people who need mobility assistance.  “It can take two ears to fully train the dogs, but they will learn over 100 commands and provide them flawlessly for their clients.”

Funds raised from the bout will be used to help train the dogs and also to be contributed to Project Rover, a collaborative program between WVU and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health that uses service dogs to assist veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Pre-sale tickets are available at the Bridgeport Skate World and on Brown Paper Tickets for $7.  Tickets at the door will be $10.  Doors will open at 5:00p.m., with the bout beginning at 6:00p.m.
