BHS Alumni Band to Once Again be Part of Bridgeport Homecoming Festivites; Rehearsal Plans Announced

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 15, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Once again, the Bridgeport High School Alumni Band will be part of Bridgeport Homecoming festivities, including the 6 p.m. Wed., Sept. 28 parade and the 7:30 p.m. Fri., Sept. 29 BHS vs. East Fairmont football game at Wayne Jamison Field.

A band rehearsal will be held 7 p.m. Tues., Sept. 27 at the Bridgeport High School band room for anyone wishing to play with the alumni band this year. Formerly, Bridgeport Middle School Band Director and BHS alumnus Eric Stoneking directed the BHS alumni band. As he has relocated to Florida, alumni band member and organizer Mike Hess will take the reins for now, he said.

During the past couple of years, BMS band students have played with the alumni band, helping to fill out the alumni band’s sound. Again this year, BMS band students will be joining the alumni band in the stands at the game, Hess said.

Those wishing to play with the band this year and who have questions or are in need of borrowing an instrument may contact Hess at wvhess@aol.com.

There will also be a frontline – majorettes and color guard – marching with the band. Anyone wishing to join may contact Julie Perine at julie@connect-bridgeport.com
