Mike Kelley's Appliance Repair is Newest Main Street Business

By Julie Perine on December 31, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Formerly housing The Looking Glass consignment shop and most recently Mr. Stop Auto, 244 West Main Street is now home to Mike Kelley's Appliance Repair.

The storefront is new, but the business is not.

“I’ve been in appliance repair for 25 years, but have only been doing in-home service for about four years,” Kelley said.

In fact, he started his in-home service the same week that former area repairman Don Reaser retired.

“I tell everyone it was a ‘God thing’ because I got a lot of his customers,” Kelley said.

Over the years, Kelley has worked out of various locations, including Clarksburg, Fairmont, Buckhannon and Weston. Once launching his in-home service business, he didn’t have time to make house calls and operate a store, but now his son – who is also an appliance technician – has joined his business.

“So we decided to open up a storefront for appliance repair, appliance factory parts and reconditioned appliances and that building was available,” said Kelley about the structure on the corner of West Main Street and Virginia Avenue.

“Through a lot of prayer, I was able to get it and I love the location,” he said.

Kelley has lived his entire life in Bridgeport, is a 1994 Bridgeport High School graduate and continues to follow BHS sports, including his favorite – football.

“So now we are going to try to build a good honest business here,” he said. “Feel free to stop in for all your appliance needs.”

Kelley services all brands of appliances and became interested in the business through his late father-in-law, who also worked in appliance repair.

Mike Kelley's Appliance Repair is open for business 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. Saturdays.
