SuperSmash Signs with Do Good Entertainment; an Affiliate of Icon Studios

By Julie Perine on December 01, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Rappers Logan Dodd and Ricky Menendez AKA SuperSmash can now call Do Good Entertainment –an affiliate of Icon Studios - their official management company.

“They signed us as artists,” Dodd said. “Hopefully by January, we’ll have some kind of college rap tour lined up.”

It all became official late last week, Dodd said.

The pair of BHS alums signed with Tashia Lawrence Stafford and Nate Butler of Do Good Entertainment in Atlanta, Ga.

When interviewed in late-August, Dodd and Menendez said they were hopeful to secure the representation. Soon, SuperSmash will be back on the road to Atlanta to work with its new production company.

“Icon Studios is a really awesome studio in Atlanta,” Menendez said. “So many cool people have been there. Even the building is awesome. We work in a brand new room and we don’t have to pay for anything – which is like crazy to us. We’re used to working in the attic of our house.”

SuperSmash has already recorded a half dozen songs at Icon Studios, the same studio where artists like Justin Bieber, Boyz II Men, Young Jess, Akon, T.I. and Destiny’s Child have worked.

“Yeah, we’re really in over our heads,” said Menendez, adding that he and Dodd have had to pinch themselves on occasion to make sure it’s all real.

“The first time we went down and were working inside this soundproof room with switchboards, mixers and all this equipment and then we walked through a door into a different soundproof room, we had to take a deep breath and realize it’s where we were supposed to be working.”

During their next visit to the studios, the boys will be staying longer than a few days.

“They want us there for a week or maybe a month,” Dodd said, “so we can start working on actual projects and get on an actual schedule. Now it’s starting to be more like work than just a little game.”

Tunes previously recorded by SuperSmash at Icon Studios include, among others, “California Dreamin,’” and “Let it Go.”

“They’re still mixing them down there and we’re talking about whether we want to do a music video, release them in iTunes and stuff like that,” Dodd said.

Menendez said he feels confident that a couple of the previously recorded songs could generate radio airtime – and not just in West Virginia.

“They’re better songs than we ever thought we’d come up with,” said Menendez with his signature sense of humor. “They’re catchy, they make people laugh and they tell a story.”
