By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 21, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The ACT 2 Theatre Company will hold open auditions for their fall show, a new play entitled Stone Touchin’ by Donald Fidler on Saturday, August 22 at 10:30 a.m. and Monday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Friedlander’s Center, 354 West Main Street in Clarksburg (Starving Artists location). Individual private auditions may also be scheduled by appointment with director, Lydia Mong via act2theatre@gmail.com.

Rehearsals will begin immediately following Labor Day. The show will be performed October 15-18, 22-25, 2015.

The play takes place in a North Carolina Piedmont rural cemetery in 1955 where a young boy named Howard Lee has a unique ability. He is able to touch grave stones and hear the deceased speak their stories and, at times, talk with them. The living visitors to the cemetery, along with the dead brought forth by Howard Lee's "stone touchin'" talent, reveal secrets, confess frustrations, and ponder tragedies to reveal a small community’s heart and soul.

Roles are available for the following characters: Howard Lee (10-14 year old boy); Reverend Phil (a mid 50s man); Lukas Andrews Jr. (a late 20s man - Deceased); Ray Joe Phillips (a late 20s man); Margie Frump Amos (a late 50s woman); Janie Amos (a late 20s woman - Deceased); Post Mistress Elizabeth Hanson (a mid 50s woman).

Actors interested in auditioning should keep in mind that they don’t have to be the exact age as the characters, they just have to look that age on stage. Sides (audition pieces) will be provided for cold readings at open auditions and are available in advance upon request.

Auditioning actors are encouraged to visit http://act2theatre.org/audition-info for audition details along with information about other upcoming audition opportunities.

The ACT 2 Theatre Company is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit volunteer organization.
